Easter Seals Walk With Me!

Its getting closer to the Walk With Me event.  The event is on May 1, 2010 at Steele Indian School Park.  I just wanted to remind everyone about how important Easter Seals is in helping our Children and adults with disabilities or special needs and their families.  Currently the event has raised: $55,961.46 so far this year, but we want to do much more.

When I attended the Walk With Me Kick Off Lunch we met one of the ambassador families.

We met Sidney!  Sidney is a triplet.  Read here more about her (from the Walk with Me page):
Referred to as a "monster of energy" by her family, Sidney's enthusiastic and positive attitude fuels her active lifestyle which includes activities such as river rafting, horseback riding, various theater productions and anything related to music. As a high school sophomore, you can always find Sidney at the school's dances, football games, and virtually any other social event. Sidney is unable to speak and uses a speech generated device called an Eco to help her communicate. She is an active member of Out and About, a social group for device users, and has been with the Assistive Technology program since age three. Sidney plans to continue her education and become a mentor to other youth who have difficulty speaking.

It was very emotional listening to her mother and her both speak.  It made me want to cry and smile at the same time.  To think what she and her family have had to endure with her disability and what Easter Seals has done to help them is so heart warming.  I truely believe that Easter Seals is a wonderful organization that puts donations to work for the children, adults, and families.

You can also read about the other Ambassador children and families HERE!

There is still time donate to this great cause.  My walk with me page is HERE! Every little bit can help.  I thank you all so much for you kindness and giving.

OR, if you would like to participate and live here in AZ you are welcome to join our team.  If your not here in AZ then you can look at the Walk With Me page and find a walk near you.
