Sponsor Spotlight *The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth* #ABE2

When I was pregnant with Jayden I read a lot of books, I mean a LOT about pregnancy, giving birth, the first years, breastfeeding and more.  I swear I should know it all.  I say should because I read lots, but I definitely don't know it all.  But when I was pregnant I wanted to know as much as I could.  I wanted to know what was going on inside me and how he was growing.  I wanted to know that I was doing everything right.  I really felt like the books helped me to feel more prepared and comfortable with the changes ahead of me.  So now thinking about my future pregnancy I am again interested in reading more books.  I recently saw the book The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth and was excited they agreed to sponsor ABE2.
The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth: More than 900 tips that 60 doctors who are also mothers use during their own pregnancies and births.  This book follows pregnancy week by week.  Each chapter it covers baby's size, baby's latest development, mom's latest development, Justification for a celebration, and a few other topics that come up in pregnancy.  Also, throughout the book there are Rallie's Tips, When to call your Doctor or Midwife, Mommy time, and Mommy MD Guide Recommended Products.  Each of the topics have some advice, tips, tricks and/or experiences shared from doctors that are also moms.  The doctors share little stories about when they were pregnant and what they did in different situations.
I really like to read the real life experiences of other mothers.  Reading a about a true situation that happened is more meaningful then reading about a situation that could happen or advice without a background story.  I really like that the doctors are not perfect and they didn't do everything perfectly.  No one is perfect and when your pregnant you don't need to hear that you are doing things wrong.  Its OK to gain more than the expected 25 lbs.  I gained 50 with Jayden and good for me was that my doctor was a woman that had been there and she told me all women are different and that me and my baby are healthy so the weigh gain is fine.  So reading the book and that the doctors were not perfect is nice to know and feel less stressed.  I also like some of the advice.  I had SO many charley horses in my legs at night when I was pregnant with Jayden.  I don't remember reading anything about what to do when i get them in other books.  In this book the doctors share their experiences with charley horses and what they did to relax them and limit them.
Another thing I really like about this book is that when talking about products they are not afraid to name the specific products.  Some books are very vague and don't want to name products.  But in The Mommy MD Guide specific products are shared.  They actually name the stores, brands, and all of it.  I like this because if a book mentions that getting a pregnancy belt is a good idea I don't have the time to search and find 100 different belts and then try and pick out a good one on my own.  By reading this book I can see that they recommend the Loving Comfort Maternity Support. I am more open to purchase a product after hearing (or reading) that someone else used it and liked it.

This book is a great book for any pregnant mom first time or third time.  I think it is always helpful to hear others experiences. I think it helps to hear other stories so you know your not the only one.

  4. I like that this book will be good for me as a First Time Mom - and will continue to follow me through hopefully 1 or 2 more to come :) - as I'm sure different questions or concerns will arise with each Pregnancy, Birth and Child!
