2011 Holiday Gift Guide Learning Resources Fun with Bugs Plus #giveaway

Jayden loves to play with bugs.  I don't know what it is, but he can find every single tiny little bug.  When he finds them he holds them tight in his hands so they don't get away.  Usually he squishes them.  He will tell me he is taking his buggy for a walk and walk around, but eventually it gets squished unless it is lucky and escapes.  I knew Jayden would love the Big View Bug Jars and the Early Science Explorers Set from Learning Resources.

About Learning Resources: Learning Resources® is a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational materials for classrooms and learning toys for the home. For more than 25 years, the company has been a trusted source for educators and parents for quality, award-winning educational products. Headquartered in Vernon Hills, IL with a European office based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England, Learning Resources markets and distributes its products in over 80 countries around the globe.

Big View Bug Jars are great for any bug explorer.  The jars really are BIG, they measure 4.5"H x 3.5" in diameter . I was surprised at the size of them, perfect for holding all size bugs and for Jayden to hold them in his hands.  The jars are made with durable plastic.  The lid on the jars are lady bugs that have wings that open to expose the magnifying glass.  The wings open with a small touch of the top, Jayden loved this.  The magnifying glass is has a 3.5x magnifying lens.  The lid screws on easily and has air vents for live bugs.

Early Science Explorers Set pairs a durable magnifier with built-in stand for hands-free observation, 4.5x magnification, and 4 1/2" diameter viewing area and 6" easy-grip tweezers.  The magnifying glass is large and very durable.  The stand flips out and is easy to use for stationary observation.  The tweezers are thick and perfect for little hands to use.

Jayden was very excited to use these and search for bugs outside.  When John got home after receiving these Jayden said, "lets go find some bugs daddy, PLEASE." So they searched for bugs.  They found a couple too.  I tagged along to get some photos.  Jayden loved using his tweezers to pick them up and put them in the bug jars.  They took a small flashlight to see them better.  The bug jar was a perfect size and Jayden held his close to put bugs in.  He used the tweezers to pick up the bugs.  Using the flashlight they held it under the bottom of the jar and shined it through.  Jayden had so much fun just pressing the little button to open the wings and see the bugs inside.  He often wants to go bug hunting and put them in his jars.  This is a fun activity for Jayden and daddy.
