Marina Games is a family owned business specializing in fun, affordable games that appeal to kids and adults of all ages. All of the games are reasonably priced and compact enough to take with you when traveling. I was sent My Grocery List, Frogs on a Lily Pad, Take-Out, and Crossword Cubes.
We first played the My Grocery List game. The Grocery List game is fun and educational. This game encourages matching, shapes, colors, memory, and of course taking turns. Each player gets a shopping basket card and a shopping list. All the grocery cards are upside down in the middle. Players take turns turning over a card and matching it to their grocery list. If its on their list then they place it in their shopping basket, if not then they put it back in the game area. The player to complete their list first wins. This game was really fun. John, Jayden, and I all three played this a few times together and it made for some family fun time. Jayden has even taken it to his Nana's house to play during the day. I think this game can even lead to a fun way to grocery shop. You can write or draw a grocery list for your child and they can help with shopping, making that dreaded shopping trip a little less difficult.
The next game we played was the Frogs on a Lily Pad. This game is simple and includes cards and a spinner. You lay the cards out with the numbers face up. Each player takes turns spinning the spinner. Which ever number you land on you get a card that matches that number. On each card there are 0-3 frogs. When all the cards are collected you count the number of frogs you have and the one with the most is the winner. This game teaches number identification, matching, counting, and taking turns. This was another fun game. Jayden really likes using the spinner. We have played this game as a family and Jayden has taken it to Nana's house.
I was also sent Take-Out. This game is a little advanced for Jayden so we didn't play it as it is designed. But I like that it can be adapted. This game includes 2 sets of dice, some original dice with dots and some with numbers on the sides, it also includes a cup. We can roll the dice and Jayden can identify the numbers, count the dots, and match the dots to the numbers. This game is small and compact and easy to take on the go.
Another game I was sent was Crossword Cubes. This is another game that is advanced for Jayden, but can be adapted. The game includes 13 dice with letters on all sides and a cup. The goal is to roll the dice and make words in a crossword fashion and then add up your score. For Jayden it is fun to roll the dice and identify the letters and even the letter sounds. I am also thinking about making some 3-4 word cards so Jayden can roll the dice and try to match the letters to make the words on the cards. This game is also compact and easy to take on the go.
Marina games has a variety of fun games that are great for the whole family. I am really excited that Jayden is so interested in games and this really helps to make family time fun and a time for learning.
