Learning Resources Primary Science Mix & Measure Set Review & Giveaway

I have shared with you my love of educational products and I have shared that Learning Resources is a great place to get some awesome educational products.  I am excited to share with you another great product today.  I was recently sent the Primary Science Mix & Measure Set.

Now I don't think I know of any child that doesn't love to pour and mix things.  Jayden LOVES to pour, mix, and just make new concoctions.  Jayden was very excited when he saw the Primary Science Mix & Measure Set.  He could not wait to open it up.  The set includes a scale, bowl, 3 self-standing spoons and 6 unique cup designs help children visualize quantities.  Additionally there are some activity/recipe card.  I love the activity cards, they are laminated and simple to follow.  A child can tell from the clear bold print and photos what the recipe is for the activity.  The bowl, cups, and spoons are all chunky and colorful.  Each cup is a different color and they each have a number on the side to identify the size of the cup.

After Jayden pulled everything out to play he asked to make one of the recipes.  We search through and decided on the  Mystery Goo.  I have made this with my Head Start children many times, but this was Jayden's first time.  The Mystery Goo is simple with 1 part water to 2 parts corn starch.  Mystery Goo is super fun.  It changes from solid to liquid and back while in your hands.  It really is some cool stuff.  Jayden loved mixing it.  when I put it on his hand he did not like it.  He kept saying, "get it off mama, get it off my hand, hurry."  I guess sensory is a little issue for him.  I cleaned it off and he continued to play by mixing, pouring, stirring, and more.  He loved this activity.  he put more water in and it became a little soupy, but it was fun for him.  It was difficult to tear Jayden away from this fun activity. Jayden then was able to enjoy the fun of cleaning everything in water.  Filling, spilling, and pouring the water was so much fun for him.

Jayden has since been using the cups and spoons in the bath tub.  He counts how many cup fulls of this one fills up that one and so on.  He just loves the pouring, spilling, and filling.  We can't wait to try out some more of the recipes for more science fun.

Learning Resources has so many great learning materials for young children.  They have many items for teaching many different skills in many different learning areas.  This kit can help children to explore, share, and investigate.
