My Pregnancy Journal Week 16

Week 16

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: I've been thinking about baby's gender.  I am really thinking this is a boy again.  Jayden still says baby sister, but I am thinking boy.  It would be nice to be wrong, but I guess I will know at the next ultrasound for sure.

Symptoms:   I am still very tired.. Can't seem to stay awake much at night, which is my blogging time.  I told you last week that I had a little spotting.  I told the doctor and she was not concerned.  She said if it happens again then let her know.  Instead of a month she wanted to see me back in 2 weeks.  She wants to do some blood tests for some genetic testing.  So I had to cancel my good time appointment I had and get one not quite as good.  I have also had the start of leg cramps, but with my compression socks they never fully develop.  I am not even kidding.  The socks somehow really help.  I feel it coming, but it never fully hurts.  I highly reccomend the Zensah Fresh Legs Maternity compression socks that I reviewed.

Weight Gain: none this week.  I feel like I am bigger, but the scale says no.  So overall 12lbs gained.

Cravings:  Not really cravings, but things I liked this week included pickles and ice cream (NOT together).  We were at my moms on Saturday and she made hamburgers.  She had pickles and they were yummy so I had to buy some too.  And I kept wanting ice cream.  The other night I text hubby and asked him to get me some.

Food Aversions: nothing

What made me cry this week: A little sad with some changes at work.  The manager I work closely with was offered a great opportunity to move to our Educare site as a manager.  This is a great opportunity for her.  But selfishly I was sad because I may not get to work with her next school year.  I was promised that I would get to work with her next year and they would save my spot with her while I was out on maternity leave, but with her change I am not sure what will happen.  I have learned so much from her and want to continue to learn from her.  Also, she is just a great person to be around.  And today she shared a video with me that made me tear up a little, in a good way.  Have you seen the Disney proposal flashmob??  If not then take a moment to go watch it and then tell me if you cried or not!

Thoughts from Jayden:  Still says there''s a baby sister in there.  Jayden has been extra loving lately.  Driving home in the car yesterday he said, "guess what mommy" and I said "what is it?"  He said, "I love you mommy."  He then proceded to tell me the other people he loves which includes daddy, Aidan, Chantel, and Uncle Kenny.  Then he said I love everyone I like too.

Something I am excited about: Baby is moving lots.  Yesterday came the first big kick.  Also, I have my ultrasound scheduled for March 21.  Then boy or girl will be confirmed.
