My Pregnancy Journal Week 18

Week 18

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts:  I'm getting nervous about finding out baby's gender.  Everyone.. like EVERYONE, except 1 person has told me they either think its a girl or assume its a girl while talking to me.  Ok.. everyone that I see in person, cause some online friends have said boy.  I'm nervous mostly because I am worried that I will disappoint others and myself if we have a boy.  I don't want to be disappointed for anything.  I will be fine, just have to get past it.  A friend found out today she is having a boy.. yay for her!  She is like a week or two further along and its her first.  Congrats Vilma!!

Symptoms/Medical: Tired on and off.  Sometimes when I stand up I feel like I have a brick in my tummy.  I am constantly going to the bathroom.  I have had some back pain on and off.  I am sleeping so hard that I wake up with sore arms from laying on them.. lol!  So far no news about the blood test so I guess that's good.  Since Dr. said she will only call if there is a problem.

Weight Gain: 1lbs.. so overall I am at 16lbs gained.  But feeling much bigger..

Cravings:  Chips and Salsa, yum Mexican food, spicy is good.  And I'd love some ice cream.

Food Aversions: nothing

What made me cry this week: I was watching My Sisters Keeper... well the end of it and I was working hard to hold back the tears.  I didn't want Jayden to see me cry and question it.

Thoughts from Jayden:  Jayden has been talking about the baby lots this week.  We were talking about car seats the other day and I told him that he is getting a new car seat and the baby will get his that he uses now.  He asked me why.  I said that he is getting big and gets a big boy car seat.  He told me, "I think I just want this car seat still."  We talked some more and I told him about his new seat.. we have it just not installed yet.  I told him it has a special cup holder.  He was quiet for a little bit and then said, "can I see the new one?"  I told him yes.  It will be a transition for him to move out of his comfortable seat and spot in the car.  We will have to move him to the side for the baby to be in the middle.  Today I asked him why his tummy is so big.  He said, "cause there's a baby in there like you have."  He then proceeded to tell me he has a girl in his tummy and mine is a boy.  He will name his girl baby sister.  He asked me to hug his baby in his tummy too.  He's so funny sometimes.

Something I am excited about: Excited and nervous about ultrasound next week, then this gender thing better be done.  Hoping baby is not shy.  Baby is moving around, not constant, but big movements when s/he does.
