My Pregnancy Journal Week 19 With Gender Reveal

Sorry I am late on this.. I was so tired the last few nights.  Jayden has kept me up at night sick.

Week 19

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.  From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts:  OK, so the moment has come to share.  I went to my ultrasound and I was still nervous, but ready to hear the results.  First of all all the measurements came out perfect!!  I am so happy to hear that nothing out of the ordinary was found.  Then came the gender reveal... And ITS A BOY!!  Yup we have another sweet little boy on the way.  When I was told I immediately looked at Jayden and said, "your gonna have a baby brother what do you think about that?"  He announced loudly, "I think its great mama!"  He made it much easier to take.  I was surprisingly not has upset as I thought I might be.  I of course felt a little drop in the fact that I will likely never have a baby girl in my life, but boys really are so much fun.  Jayden insisted on carrying the pictures all the way home and made daddy put them on the refrigerator next to the 12 week ultrasound pictures.  Our baby boy is so cute... he had his hand up and looks like he is sucking his thumb in most all the photos.  He is in the breech position, but hopefully he will shift soon.  So in the end as disappointed I am in not being a mama to a girl, I am so happy to have a sweet baby boy.  On the way home John says, "the good thing is that boys always love their mom's, but girls rebel against their moms."  LOL!  Yes that is true in many cases.. still hard.
Symptoms/Medical: I'm still tired, but doing better.  I have felt a few leg cramps coming on, but thanks to my compression socks nothing major has come of it.  Every now and then I get cramps, but nothing difficult.  So far no swelling in my legs and feet, I swelled up like crazy with Jayden.  My fingers are swelling some.  I think I will have to remove my rings soon.  I have taken a couple off, but not my wedding ring yet.  With Jayden I had to have them cut off and I don't want to do that again.

Weight Gain: 1lbs.. so overall I am at 17lbs gained.

Cravings:  Lemonade and spicy food, Mexican and chips and salsa

Food Aversions: nothing, but John had tuna the other day and it smelled gross.  (but I never have liked tuna)

What made me cry this week: Well there were a few times to cry this week.  Jayden was home sick and so was John so I went to work.  I usually stay with him when he is sick.  When I got home I told Jayden I missed him and he said well I didn't miss you mama.  I felt so sad I let out a tear or two.  Jayden is usually a mamas boy when he is sick, but since daddy stayed with him he didn't want me anymore.  I did cry in the car after I found out we have a boy coming.  I also cried a bit when Jayden started preschool this week.

Thoughts from Jayden:  Jayden is liking touching my belly and hugging the baby.  After we got in the car after the ultrasound I said to Jayden, "wow your going to have a baby brother cause its a boy."  he said, "I thought it was a girl."  I said, "no remember she told us its a boy."  He said, "but I wanted a girl."  We talked a little more about it.  After getting home I asked him what we should name the baby boy.  He thought a minute and said, "Muno!"  (Think Yo Gabba Gabba).  I said, "we can't  name the baby Muno, that's the cats name."  He said, "that's ok they can have the same name."  Um I don't think so!

Something I am excited about: Shopping for cute boy stuff!!  I think I already found the bedding and room decor i want.  I'm very excited.

  1. I'm so happy for you! shopping for little baby items is so much fun..

  2. So excited for you mama!! SO adorable that he was sucking his thumb in the u/s!! Brooke (or was it Erik?) was doing that too, and it was so neat to see.
Good thing we live in AZ, where there's plenty of good Mexican food to satisfy those cravings! =) With Logan I loved folded cheese crisps covered in red sauce (Manuels, called Red Mary Lou) and topped with sour cream and TONS of jalapenos! Heartburn city, but oh so good!

  3. So exciting, congratulations! I know how you feel about being a little disappointed, I always wanted a boy, but am very happy with my four girls. And don't worry about being breech, babies can flip right up until the end. There's plenty of time still! :)

  4. Your husband is right about girls not getting along with their mothers later in life. I was lucky enough to not have this happen but I know it is not the case with a lot of teenage girls. It is normal to feel a little disappointed. Your son is too funny wanting to name the baby Muno. Kids really say the funniest things.

  5. My boyfriend wants a boy, but is so afraid to say it out loud because he's worried he would be disappointed if have a girl again.

  6. Congrats on the gender reveal & I love Jayden's reaction! Boys totally rock. :)

  7. I have a 3 year old boy and a an almost 1 year old boy and I adore the fact that I have two boys {Part of me really wanted a girl}. My boys play together and take care of each other. They share, they, hug, they are friends and I love watching these boys grow together. Boys are great, but then again I don't know any differently. You will find joy each day with your new baby boy! Good luck and God bless!

  8. Congratulations! Jayden will make a great big brother!

  9. Aw. I understand. I didn't have a girl until my third child. I thought I was finished, but then almost four years later I was blessed with another girl. How true that they rebel! It breaks your heart when they do. Thankfully I have made peace with both of mine. Boys are wonderful too, I have 4!
