Oh, Baby, Baby *Sponsor Spotlight* Tommee Tippee #babybabyhop

There are so many choices out there when it comes to baby bottles.  It is hard to know what will work for each baby and/or parent.  With Jayden we went through quite a few different brands of bottles before we settled on one.  I was convinced I knew which bottles I wanted and registered for a bunch.  Well, that didn't work out very good since the bottle was not a good fit for us.  So we had a bunch of bottles that we could not use.  This time around I have been looking at more brands to get a better idea of what may work for us.  We still love out Tommee Tippee Sippy cups so I was immediately interested in the newborn feeding line.  Tommee Tippee sent me a couple of their products to review.  I was sent the closer to nature newborn starter set and the closer to nature milk storage pods with tray.

The newborn starter set consists of 4 - 9oz bottles, 2 - 5oz bottles, 3 formula dispensers, and 1 bottle and nipple cleaner. Its perfect for starting out and trying a new bottle. The Tommee Tippee bottles try to mimic that of the breast to help ease the transition between breast and bottle.  This is great for those planning to breast feed like myself.  I will definitely be breastfeeding, but when I return to work or need a break it will be nice to have good bottles to feed my expressed milk.  The nipples have a natural feel, flex, and movement of breastfeeding.  They also have a wide neck nipple for easier latch on.  These bottles are Anti-colic, anti-gas, and have an advanced easi-vent valve.  The bottles are BPA & Phthalate Free.  Each bottle comes with a hygiene cap that seals the nipple for easy travel.

I put a little water in one of the bottles and held it upside down to see what would happen.  The bottle drips out the nipple slowly, but not around the seal.  When I tried using the bottle it was easy to use, but I had to suck to get anything to come out.  This is good news, as you don't want to make it too easy for baby to get their milk, especially when your a breast feeder.  When babies breastfeed they have to work at it to get the milk so you want the same in a bottle.  If you plan to formula feed, then these bottles are great for you too.  They come with 3 formula dispensers.  They make it easy to measure out the amount of formula you will need and easily drop in to the bottles.  This makes for super easy travel.  The last thing in the kit is the bottle brush.  I love this brush.  I think it is the best I have had.  It is strong and sturdy.

The second item I was sent was the Milk Storage Pods and Tray.  Like I said I plan to breastfeed baby boy when he arrives.  And in doing so I will need to store extra milk for John to feed him on occasion and for the sitter when I go to work.  Although I often freeze my milk like I did with Jayden, I like to keep some in the refrigerator for quick use.
The closer to nature breast milk protection pods and storage tray are made for expressing and storing milk.  These can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.  You can actually place the pod in a bottle and express directly into the pod, which makes for easy, no waste transferring.  When your pumping your milk often every drop counts.  So limiting the transfer of milk will reduce the number of drops lost that adds up.  The pods can also be placed in a bottle with the nipple and used to feed.  Again cutting down on the transferring and loss.  It may only be a few drops each time, but that really adds up when your struggling to get enough milk to feed your little one.  This set comes with 6 storage pods that fit perfectly into their tray for easy storage.  Each storage pod is 4 ounces, which is a typical amount that I pumped when I was pumping for Jayden.  Lets just hope that I am able to pump as much for the new baby.

Tommee Tippee has a large line of feeding products from newborn to preschool.  They also have some really nice video monitors with sensor pads.  I'd love to get one of these for baby.

  28. I've never tried this but love that they mimic the breast (or as close as you can get from a bottle anyways). Will be good for pumped milk so there's minimal to no nipple confusion.
