My Pregnancy Journal ~ Week 21

Week 21

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.  From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts:  I remembered that when I was pregnant someone told me about this online predictor called Madame Zaritska that tells you what your birth experience will be like.  So I was interested to see how it says this time.

For Jayden it said:
Get your bags packed early just in case you need them. Make sure your partner has a phone available when he's away because this baby just might come early. We predict your baby will come 2-3 weeks early. Your baby will most likely be born in the morning. Justmommies predicts that your baby will weigh approximately 7.3 pounds and that your labor will be about 12 hours long.  (Jayden came early morning, 2:32am, the morning after his due date, was 9lbs. 1.7 oz. and 21 inches.  labor was about 12 hours).

This time it said:
The day you deliver, outside will be bright. Your baby will arrive in the middle of the afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 17 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 9 pounds, 10 ounces, and will be 17-1/2 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and some brown hair.

UM!!  Dang... it wants me to have HUGE babies.  I actually ran it a few times and it almost always said babies 9lbs to 14 lbs... Yikes.  Sometimes it said a girl and sometimes a boy.  I can only hope she over estimated this time since with Jayden she under estimated with weight and time and all.  LOL!

Symptoms/Medical: I had my monthly visit to the doctor yesterday.  It went well.  Found baby boys heartbeat almost immediately.  Strong healthy heart beat.  I didn't have any questions or concerns and neither did my doctor.  So I don't go back for a month.  My next appointment is in a month.  I won't get to see my doctor next time since she didn't have a convenient time available for me.  My doctors office is close to the hospital and to home, but far from work.  So leaving work for a 15 minute appointment in the middle of the day is difficult.  But since this office requires you to see every doctor in the practice.  One thing I am sad for is that there is no guarantee with this office that your doctor will be the one to deliver your baby.  At this office which ever doctor is on call will deliver your baby.  So that is why you have to meet with every doctor at some point in your pregnancy.  I would prefer to have my doctor.  With Jayden my doctor at that time was more about delivering her own babies.  So if she was not at our regular visits I was not concerned because I would for sure and did see her at Jayden's birth.  At that office I usually saw my OB or the NP at each visit.  I loved Jayden's doctor and wish I still had her, but sadly she moved to a practice in Scottsdale (far East) and I moved to Glendale (far West).  This is not to say I don't like my doctor now, because I do, but I hope I get to have her to deliver.

Weight Gain:  It was nothing until just yesterday and then all of a sudden I went up 2 lbs and now I am up 20 over all.   Yikes!!  Doctor said don't worry about the weight gain, but then she mentions making good food choices!  I do.. my body needs food so I eat it.  lol!

Cravings:  Same.. Lemonade and spicy food, Mexican and chips and salsa, bean and cheese burritos.

Food Aversions: Still nothing

What made me cry this week:  I did have a couple times crying this week and they were all around the same issue.  Work.. So a substitute teacher told one of our Senior Program managers (hers) that I was talking to a teacher and told the teacher that the Senior Program Manager and the Child Development Manager (the teachers manager) didn't get along or like each other.  So that is why she won't share information about a teacher that has been out.  She supposedly overheard this conversation.  Well, that is not what I said or even close.  I was talking to the teacher about the other teacher being out and when she asked me if I knew or her manager knew when she would be back.  I said no and she asked why the Senior Program Manager was not telling us.  I told her maybe it is a personal issue with the teacher and she doesn't want anyone to know.  So somehow the substitute took my saying it was a personal issue for the teacher that was absent and made it into a personal issue between the Senior Program Manager and the Child Development manager.  So that meant that there was an email and the Child Development Manager called me at home.  Her and I get along great and I love her.  So she told me what was said and wanted to know if it was true.  At first I was shocked that anyone would say that and said no.  I realized where she might have been mistaken and shared the conversation.  That first phone call was fine, but as I thought about it I wanted to cry.  The next day I did cry a few times at work.  I would never say things about others like that and it really hurt my feelings that someone would think that.  I guess it is all cleared up and I will have to continue conversations with my manager about it at my next supervision meeting.  My manager was out of town at a conference at the time so we have not talked yet.  The Child Development Manager spoke to the Senior Program Manager and shared our conversation so supposedly everything is fine with her, but I feel bad.  It just makes me feel awkward around her now that I have not talked with her personally.  Of course this issue would have made me cry pregnant or not.  I am just a feeler and very emotional as it is.

Thoughts from Jayden: Jayden continues to want a girl, but has given in a little more about a boy.  We were at the part the other day and John and I were discussing names we liked and didn't like.  Jayden said, "I know how about... (are you ready for this..) we name the baby Easter Bunny!" and the boys was serious!!  Um NO!  Later that day he said how about Foofa.  This boy really wants the baby to be named after a Yo Gabba Gabba!  When I share names I like Jayden responds with yes or no.  He will have a little say in the name, but not all for sure.  When I was giving Jayden a bath the other night he looked at my belly as I was standing in the mirror and said, "Whooo Mama! that's a big belly" Isn't he sweet!?!

Something I am excited about: I want to start going through all the stuff I have from Jayden and figure out what I can still use and what I need.  I did buy a couple things this week.  Another pair of adorable baby leg warmers.. owls!  I also bought a sleep sack, super soft fleece on clearance at Walmart and a winter outfit for only $1!!  I really want to get the crib put together and buy the dresser/changing table so I can get the room started.  John will be leaving soon for training out of town so I want some of this done first so I can play around while he is gone.

Happenings of the Harper Household

In case you missed it you can read My Pregnancy Journal Week 20

  1. I love reading your pregnancy diary. You are such a hoot. I love the comments.

  2. ok, just tried this predicter thing. Said my baby was going to be 14lbs... Yeah right...

  3. A 14 lb baby?!?! WOW. &That is why you shouldn't use those things. :P

  4. K seriously that pregnancy predictor thing is freaking me out.. this is what it said "The day you deliver, outside will be dark. Your baby will arrive in the late afternoon. After a labor lasting approximately 16 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 1 ounces, and will be 19,19-1/2 inches long. This child will have dark green eyes and barely there brown hair."

k... so yes we are having another girl. That is my typical labor length, my previous labors were 15 & 13 hours. Also... the doctors had warned me that if I didn't keep my gestational diabetes in check with my second daughter that she would have weighed about 10 lbs, esp if she had come on her due date - she came 2 weeks early and was 7 lbs. 8 oz. Also, Dustin has dark green eyes..... if this does come true you will be in trouble because I don't want a 10 lb baby!! LOL.

  5. This is a great idea to keep track of during your pregnancy! It's got a bunch of little things that you might not necessarily remember later and it is also neat to see Jayden's reactions and name choices too :) I think you will really enjoy having done this later :)

  6. Whoo mama that's a big belly! Haha, too funny. I'm 21 weeks this week, so it's fun to see and compare.
