My Pregnancy Journal Week 22

Week 22

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.

If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.   From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: I'm loving the feel of baby boy moving around.  John and I have been discussing names lately.  I have a name I like and he doesn't hate.  But John just came up with a name the other day and I don't hate it.  So we have 2 names and each of us like ours a little more than the other.  John asked Jayden today which name he likes and I think he was a little disappointed that he likes my name more.  Either name would be good.  I don't want to say what they are yet because I know all to well how names get changed.  Jayden was originally an Ethan up until about 8 months along.  I am feeling less worried about the name now that we have a few options.  At first the whole name thing stressed me.  I had a girl name all ready to go, but a boy name was tough.

Symptoms/Medical:  I have been feeling very fat lately.  My tummy feels really tight every evening and sometimes during the day.  It gets really uncomfortable, but then goes away.  I think it is possibly Braxton Hicks, but not sure.  I have also had some back pain.  No real problems or concerns.  Oh, and of course lots of sleepiness.

Weight Gain:  I'm up another 1 so now at 21 overall.

Cravings:  Same.. Lemonade and spicy food, Mexican and chips and salsa, bean and cheese burritos. this baby is consistent..

Food Aversions: Still nothing

What made me cry this week:  OMG!  I opened the cabinet to get a pan and a bunch of stuff fell out.  The bottom plate for my big George Foreman Grill fell out and the handle broke.  I was so upset, I started to cry.  Hubby had put the dishes away and put this in the wrong place.  I didn't know what to do but cry.  Hubby immediately got on the Internet to see if he could buy it.  Jayden just stared at me.  He doesn't know what to do when I cry.  I had to reassure him that I am alright.

Thoughts from Jayden: Not too much this week.  There were mentions about the baby and when I say baby brother he immediately looks at me funny.  Often he says no mama baby sister.  He is torn between wanting a girl and knowing its a boy.

Something I am excited about: Hubby got the job I talked about last week.  So I am excited and sad all at once.  He is leaving in less then 2 weeks and will be gone around 3-4 weeks.

  1. Arizona Mama,

The choice of a name is stressing you out? That might be just hormones, try making a game of it. That 'popping sensation' of feeling the first movements is hitting me hard. I think my baby is addicted to kettle korn and makes a HUGE batch every night. So, possible name is 'Ketlin'
