My Pregnancy Journal ~ Week 24

Week 24

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: Its been a busy week.  John went to Georgia for his new job training on Sunday.  Jayden was excited to go to the airport, but he wanted to go on the plane with daddy.  He kept telling me, but I'm not scared mama.  We have been doing lots to help him with daddy being gone.  We made a chain with a link for each day daddy is gone.  Each morning he gets to remove a link to countdown daddy's days away.  So to say the least this house has been busy.  I am not sleeping as good just knowing John is not here. Plus Jayden thinks the best time to wake every morning is around 4:15 to 4:30... :(  that means less sleep for me as he yells at me over the monitor.

Symptoms/Medical:  Some cramping pain in my side.  I know its just growing, but sucks.  A few Braxton hicks I believe.  I have some back pain if I stand too long or don't sit as comfortable.  The last few days I have noticed that its really hard to cross my legs as it is uncomfortable on my belly.

Weight Gain: Up another 2 lbs.. 24lbs over all.  UGH!

Cravings:  Lemonade is still the top of the list.  There have been a couple of times that

Food Aversions: Nada

What made me cry this week: I held back the tears when John left.  It was weird I was fine with it and really didn't need to cry.  But as we stood at the airport waving to him as he goes in security I got watery eyes.  I didn't want to cry in front of Jayden so I held it back.  Can't think of any other time I cried this week.

Thoughts from Jayden: Jayden almost got to feel baby boy kick.  He was moving around in my tummy so I called Jayden over.  But since he didn't know what was going on he was slow and baby boy stopped kicking.  Jayden asked me a little later, is he kicking yet mama?  He really wanted to feel it.

Something I am excited about: Getting baby stuff.  I actually won a couple of awesome giveaways this last week and I can't wait to get them.  I won a Mamaroo from A Mom's Impression and a Boppy from Children Teaching Mama.  I can't wait to get them and set up the Mamaroo.

  1. I've never heard of a mamaroo before... Must be something new! How awesome that you won a boppy though!! Look out for giveaways for a juppy...this new thing to help babies walk. I won one and am going to give it to my cousin who is expecting!

  2. Yay! Cant wait to hear what Jayden says when he feels his little brother move! :)
24lbs is FINE! No worries mama! You look great!

  3. I love reading these pregnancy journals from all of you! Too bad these weren't available when mine were little! You'll get used to sleeping alone shortly before hubby comes home, and then have trouble sleeping when he gets home. Happens every time my hubby goes out of town to work! I'm so happy Jayden is looking forward to the baby. He'll have plenty of time to feel it kick! It's a good way to get him excited about it coming!

  4. Yay! You are over half way! And that's so exciting that you won a MamaRoo. I wish they had those when my twins were born. I want to try one! lol
