My Pregnancy Journal ~ Week 26

Week 26

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: So baby boy continues to move and kick like crazy.  He is jumping around now and its after 11:15pm.. ugh!  Have been feeling very heavy in the belly lately.  Its funny I stand up and it feels like my belly has a brick in it.  I think that baby boy is literally out front, probably why I am so big.  I really can't believe how far along I am.  Its weird how fast it is going.  I really wish I had kept a journal like this with Jayden so I could compare.  The school year is ending and I am thinking about my maternity leave.  I want to work as far as I can.  With Jayden I worked up to Friday and my due date (and the day I went into labor) were on Monday.  I'd love to do the same this time.

Symptoms/Medical:  Still sleepy, but that is about it.  I have had some minor back pain, oh and that brick in the belly feeling when I get up.  So far this week no leg cramps.. knock on wood!

Weight Gain: 1 lb up... 25lbs over all.

Cravings: Ice cream...

Food Aversions: Nada

What made me cry this week: not crying, but close.  Today was Jayden's last day of his preschool class.  He was so excited.. it was adorable to see him rush me out the door to get to school.  He doesn't really get that he won't get to see his friends anymore, well except for Aidan.  I went to spend lunch with him and a little after and it made me almost cry to watch him.  He was having a great time.  But he was the only child that refused to go in the bounce house.  He said he was afraid.  Even after all the kids left and it was just him and Aidan he would not get in.  I just kept watching how big he is and makes me sad he is growing so much.  I can't believe he will be 4 in less then a month.

Thoughts from Jayden: Jayden has been talking about the baby and calling him his baby brother.  Yesterday he said a few cute things.  First he drank his chocolate milk really quick and I said, "wow you must have been thirsty."  He said, "yea and my baby brother was thirsty too.  Now he is not thirsty anymore."  So cute he is thinking baby is in his belly again.  Probably because I say things like, "your baby brother is hungry and I need to feed him" when I eat.  Later he saw my belly and as I was putting my shirt down he stopped me.  He lifted my shirt and said, "mommy what are those lines?" as he traced stretch marks.  I had to explain stretch marks, not my idea of a fun conversation.  But it was cute how concerned he was.

Something I am excited about: A couple good things to be excited about this week.  First today I attended a twitter party and I won!  Whoo Hoo!  I won a Monterey Booster Carseat from Diono!!  Now Jayden has a new car seat.. So exciting!  Now I just need one for baby boy.   And last, but definitely not least.. I am excited because John comes home Saturday!!  I can't believe it has been 3 weeks.  The time went to fast!!  We are excited to have daddy back!  Jayden was so excited when he realized today that there are only 2 days left.
