My Pregnancy Journal Week 29

Week 29

Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: Well, I started trying to rearrange baby's room and its just too small to leave the day bed in there so I have to get rid of it.  Well, give it back to my mom anyway.  I have been off work this week for a short vacation, but I have been so busy that it has not felt anything like a vacation.  Jayden has really liked staying home with mommy every day.  We are still having issues with potty training, if you read my previous post you have an idea and Jayden continues to hold it.  It is at a struggle point between Hubby and I and then Jayden.  Jayden resists and hubby is getting upset that I don't want to give in.  I have made some modifications by offering a diaper as he sits on the potty, but he still refuses.  I can't give in completely.. its frustrating and I feel push against the wall with hubby telling me it is going to cause him lots of medical issues.. um I am doing everything I can and I was the one that sat with him crying when the pee trained and he is fine now.  Anyway, this has nothing to do with my pregnancy except that it stresses me.

Symptoms/Medical:  So I failed my glucose test.. :( Just barely they said, but enough that I have to do the 3 hour test next Monday.  This sucks because its my last vacation day and I have to sit at their office for 3 hours with Jayden there.  He did pretty good last time, but kept talking to the ladies and distracting them from their work.  They really like him, but I feel bad that he is bothering them.  I have been tired on and off as usual.  I have been feeling Braxton Hicks contractions lately.

Weight Gain: 0 lbs up... 29lbs over all.

Cravings: Nothing really.. I'd love some sushi or a really yummy chocolate brownie.

Food Aversions: Nothing this week.

What made me cry this week: I did cry this week... I cried while having issues with Jayden and potty training.  I feel like a bad mom.  I don't know why this little boy that is so smart is so many ways will not potty train completely.  UGH!!  Then I cried when I went to court on Tuesday.  I was filing for an order of protection (long story) but it was denied because the threats were made to another person.  Even though it was towards me I was not told these things myself so they don't let you get one I guess.

Thoughts from Jayden:  Jayden continues to talk about baby brother lots.  He asks me often if he is kicking me.  He also gives my belly lots of hugs and kisses for baby.  After the Dr. appointment last week Jayden ran down the hall (so hard to keep him from running down a long straight hall).  When he got to the end he stopped to say hi to a couple ladies.  He told them I was his mommy and that I had a baby in my tummy.  Then today I told Jayden we will take his cat to be neutered next week.  I explained that meant the cat can't have babies.  He said, "That's good mom, because we don't want lots of babies here.  Just one in your belly, but don't have lots ok mama.?!"

Something I am excited about:  OMG!!  I can't believe that I have less then 75 days to go.  A friend of mine asked if she can give me a baby shower.  So I am excited to get that started.  Don't really need much, but tits just fun to get together.  Probably won't be until July.  I am also excited for Jayden's birthday this weekend.  I can't believe my baby boy is so big!  I am attempting (with my moms help) to make a 3D Monster Truck cake!  Wish me luck!

  1. Okay, first of all, you are super cute! Love your belly!

Try not to stress too much. That stress can be passed on to your baby and it's really not healthy. And re: Jayden's potty training: I've always heard that it's harder and takes longer to potty train boys than it does girls. Just give it time. He'll want to pee on the potty eventually!

    1. Thanks.. actually he is completely pee trained and has been over a year. Its the poop. He doesn't have accidents, but will only go in a diaper. So he asks for a diaper to poop and if I don't give it to him he holds it. He has and does hold it for many days, like 3-4 days. We are on day 4 now..

  2. If you "failed" the 1 hr and 3 hr glucose test while pregnant with Jayden and it was controlled by diet (so you already have a glucose meter) yes, I know lots of "ifs" see if they will let you skip the 3 hr test this time and just check your blood sugar daily.

When pregnant with my oldest, I failed (but just barely) the 1 hour and had to take the 3 hour which I failed too, but just barely again. I got a glucose meter and never got a high glucose reading and I just watched what/when I ate. When pregnant with my youngest, I failed (again, just barely) the 1 hour test and asked if I could just skip the 3 hour test and do the same thing like with my oldest (check glucose and modify diet). My OB said ok.

Sorry you are still having potty issues with Jayden :( You might think about maybe backing off (but not just letting him use a diaper). With my youngest, I did naked time but then it became an issue because anything on was perceived as a diaper and I was getting very frustrated. I finally decided it would happen when it happened and lo and behold... Of course this was for pee and not poop so I think it might be different. I honestly can't remember how the oldest got poop trained :(

What about trying to put the diaper IN the potty and having him sit on the potty (as opposed to him sitting on the potty with the diaper on).

    1. I passed the 1 hour test with Jayden and never had to do the 3 hour test. So this is a little new for me. I'm sure it will be fine, more frustrated with sitting there for 3 hours with an active little man in tow.

I have actually started telling Jayden I will let him wear a diaper, but he has to sit on the potty to poop with the diaper on. He doesn't want to, but will have to give in soon. Hoping it helps. Thanks for the ideas!!

    2. I just wasn't thrilled with the idea of having my arm poked 4 times in a 3 hour time period a second time and I am glad that they let me just test my blood.

I think lots of fruit also or maybe prune juice (I would mix prune with apple but found that my youngest would drink straight prune juice so I did that and I also did prunes which he might be old enough for). I posted some other ideas on the actual post where you were talking about the potty training issues.

Good luck! I know it can seem frustrating and like the end of the world.

  3. You will be fine! Don't stress. My son & DIL had the same problem with their oldest son (potty training). He finally started using the potty. Jayden will get it, I promise!
Take care of yourself. Cry if you want to. It wont hurt anything and it releases endorphines that keep you healthy. You know we love you.
