A Classic Tale retold on Blu-Ray/DVD released June 26, 2012

     Mirror, Mirror is a funny twist on the classic tale of Snow White.  Starring actress Julia Roberts as the evil witch, Lily Collins as Snow White, and Armie Hammer as the Prince.  In Mirror Mirror Snow White is a princess in exile as the ruthless queen rules her captured kingdom.  The queen is Snow Whites stepmother and is trying to hold her back from being who she is.  She keeps her sheltered in her room. Snow White meets up with the seven dwarfs, that are known as the outcast bandits.  Snow White starts out as  sheltered, naive, and unable to do much for herself.  But with help from Grimm, Wolf, and her new friends she is able to transform into a brave, skillful fighter.  This movie is filled with comedy, jealously, romance, betrayal and more.

     I watched this movie and it was very different from the story line I know of Snow White.  Snow White lives in the castle with the evil witch after her father, the King, is killed.  The queen rules the kingdom by talking all the peoples money in taxes.  Snow White is in a search to take her kingdom back.  Along the way she meets the prince and it is apparent they have an attraction.  But the Queen also has her eye on the prince.  When Snow White is taken out to be killed secretly by the queens servant, he instead lets her go and she finds herself in the presence of the seven dwarfs.  These are not your typical seven dwarfs you have come to know and love.  They are rebels and they don't go out to work hard each day, they steal.  And they are not so happy to have Snow White join them at first.  Snow White is able to get the townspeople to see that the seven dwarfs are hero's and not the horrible rebels the queen has made them out to be.  It took me a bit to adjust to the difference in this production from the popular version.  As I watched there were many funny parts and a little romance too.  I'm still not too sure how I feel about the seven dwarfs, they were not as expected.  The movie is good and I am sure there are parts I missed and when I watch it the next time I will catch some of those things.  This is not a classic Snow White movie, but if you want to see something different with a twist then you should watch Mirror, Mirror.
