My Pregnancy Journal ~ Week 30

Week 30

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.) From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts: Jayden and I went to both Target and Babies R Us to put together a registry and I always think they are fun.  Of course my reason was mostly because each of them gave me a gift card if I did it, but it was fun to look at all the baby stuff.  It reminds me that I really need to get more done in the baby room.

Symptoms/Medical:  Monday I took the 3 hour glucose test, oh the fun.  Jayden and I hung out at the OB's office for 3 hours.  I was trying to be prepared by bringing Jayden a backpack of items to keep him occupied.  The DVD player stopped working after 25 minutes and he wasn't as interested in his video game.  After the first hour we decided to sit in the hallway outside the office so he could play with his monster truck and make noise.  The wait room is a smaller room in the back and is usually empty, but of course my luck another girl was doing the same 3 hour test only 5 minutes behind me.  That means she sat in the room the whole time.  Most people came and went, but with her there the whole time I felt bad that Jayden would bother her so we tried to find things to do in the hall.  I wanted to walk around and even sit at the tables outside, but I was told to just sit and not move around much.  So far no call so I think I passed, plus I had an appointment today and the doctor didn't say anything.  I forgot to ask.  I think it is so funny the girls in the office know exactly who I am now and I am sure its because of Jayden.  He goes to all of my appointments. I walk in and he runs up to the desk to say hi to them all.  In the back on the way out he has to stop and say hello to those ladies too.  Today's visit went well.  I saw a different doctor.  I am at a point where I need to see a different doctor in the office so I have seen each doctor before delivery in case they are on call when I go into labor.  She was very nice.  I am measuring a little big, almost 31 weeks.  That doesn't surprise me with my weight gain this week and the fact I have big babies.  She is not concerned.  Baby boy was happy and moving around as usual.  His heart rate was around 150-153.  I did share with my doctor that last night I was having some cramping really low.  They lightened when I laid down, but were still there.  John had to give Jayden a bath because I just couldn't do it.  The doctor said to drink more water and rest.  I also happened to talk to my Humana Beginnings nurse today and she said the same thing.  I guess I need even more to drink.  I am usually good at drinking plenty, but guess I am not getting all I need lately.  I have also continued to have Braxton Hicks contractions.

Weight Gain: 4 lbs up... 33lbs over all.

Cravings: Nothing specific.. but have been hungry all day lately.

Food Aversions: Nothing this week.

What made me cry this week: I don't think I cried this week..

Thoughts from Jayden:  Jayden has been more and more loving to the baby.  Baby boy gets lots of hugs and kisses lately.  But when he is jumping around and playing he forgets and jumps on me.  Sometimes I worry he will push me into early labor.  Jayden has been telling everyone that he is going to teach his baby brother how to ride his bike and kick a soccer ball.  Today he told the nurse he is having a sister.  I think he is still hoping.  Jayden had his fourth birthday party this last weekend and he loved it all so much.  He had just what he wanted a BIG Monster Truck cake and all his friends and family over.  Its hard to believe this is his last birthday without a sibling.

Something I am excited about:  I am super excited about going to see Kooza Cirque Du Soleil tomorrow night.  My mom is coming over to watch Jayden so John and I can get out for the first time in like a year.
