The MeCorder is a compact mini video recorder that anyone can use. With the MeCorder you are able to capture 30 second recordings. It is a little different in that it recorders whoever is talking into it. So a child can see themselves as they talk and then play back what they said and did. It features an LCD screen, mic, USB, and a magnetic back. It is 2.25 X 2.25 in size, so kind of small. The MeCorder is geared towards 2nd grade plus, but as you know Jayden is much younger. He may not use it in the way it was intended, but enjoys its use for himself.
Jayden loves to record himself saying silly things and playing it back. It records over so you can't save what you just recorded. Which for Jayden is no big deal, but I'd love to be able to save some of his funny recordings. You can upload your videos if you want to save them. You just have to remember to do it right away or you will record over the top. The MeCorder has 3 simple buttons (power, record, and play). Sometimes the buttons do get a stuck and it takes a few pressing to get it to work. At one time Jayden pushed it too many times and it stuck. It would not turn on or off. I let it sit to run the battery out and then it was fine. Jayden also often held it where it cut his face off. He did not have it in the right place to capture his face, but I think he was more worried about it hearing his voice then his face so he would hold it close to his mouth.
The MeCorder would be great to keep on the fridge and add messages. Like leave your child a message with their chores to do for the day or they can leave a message to you about anything. It can also be helpful in education with children using it to read aloud on their own. Children with speech difficulties could use it to watch themselves as they say words or sounds and play it back to help them. I would love to see Jayden use this to help him educationally, but for now he enjoys just saying silly things and watching it playback. I tried uploading one of Jayden's videos, but for some reason my computer is not reading it. I downloaded a couple, but can't find where they saved. When I went to do it last night and again today it is not recognizing the MeCorder. I'm sure its my computer.. I will keep trying and share when it works.
My only complains are the short recording of 30 seconds and the picture clarity is not too good. When recording indoors the picture is pretty dark. We didn't have the lights up very high so that might help to make for a better picture.
