My Pregnancy Journal ~ Week 34

Week 34

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.. From BabyCenter

Random Thoughts:  Well, its getting closer and closer.  As you can see I am late on this again.  I am just so exhausted.  I can't stand for too long or do too much before I just need to sit.  Lucky work has been mostly sitting at the computer and working from my desk.  But teachers from one of our large sites come back Monday and the rest of the agency of teachers come back either the 17th or 18th (new teachers get an extra day of training).  When they all come back it will be time for preservice training and I am one of the trainers.  UGH!  So much for resting my last month.  At home I have so much to do with cleaning and setting up the baby's room.  Plus I have some great products to share with you all for the baby event.  Baby boy has been moving all over the place.  Last weekend he just kept twisting and turning all night and I could not sleep.  I swear he is a little party animal in there.  With as much as he moves around I wonder if I will make it to my due date.  I would like for him to stay in as long as he can.

Symptoms/Medical:  I had not had many contractions (braxton hicks) until today.  I had a couple today.  I have been super exhausted.  Not that I want to sleep, but just sit and relax.  I feel so lazy.  I have so many things to get done.  I have had really bad pressure down there.  It has been horrible to have any kind of comfortable clothing.  Nothing seems to fit because he is so very low.  I had to get a couple dresses from Ross today (I love Ross).  I went to the doctor yesterday.  I saw a doctor that I have not seen in the office yet.  He was kind of weird, nice but weird.  I am actually hoping he is not the doctor that ends up delivering baby boy.  I just didn't feel as comfortable with him.  I have been fine with most the other doctors.  But this reminds me again the one thing I don't like about my OB office.  The doctor on call is the one that delivers you.  With Jayden my doctor made it her priority to deliver all her patients, that meant missing many regular appointments, but I was find with that knowing she would be at delivery and she was.  But this office is different.  Whoever is on call delivers you.  Crossing my fingers its my doctor, I like her.  Well, my favorite is my regular doctor, but she is a nurse practitioner and can't deliver babies.  But my OB is great too.  Anyway, baby boy is measuring right on schedule and his heart rate was 147.  He did kick the doctor when he was wiping away the gel.

Weight Gain: 1 lbs up... 38lbs over all.

Cravings:  Not really.. I guess I did have a couple milkshakes this week.

Food Aversions: None as usual.

What made me cry this week:  Nope.. no crying!

Thoughts from Jayden:  Jayden has been talking about and including baby boy lots lately.  He asks about him more and more.  He loves to tell people his name, its like he is so proud.  He tells people his name is baby ___.  Always baby before the name.  And he will talk to him too and calls him baby ___.  At the doctor yesterday he found a car in my purse.  He was driving it over my belly and said, "watch out baby  ___ the car is coming."  And today he saw a tree on the side of the rode and told me, "look mommy a Christmas tree.  Did you see it?"  When I said yes he asked if baby ___ saw it.  I said no because he is hiding in my belly.  He said when baby ___ comes out he wants to show him the Christmas tree.  He really is looking forward to being a big brother.  Although tonight he wanted to sit on his baby brother.

Something I am excited about:  Wow so much!  Last weekend we did get the baby dresser/combo put together.  I am hoping to do more in the room this weekend and hopefully I have the energy to clean house too.  I am excited to be closer and closer to full term, but also worry that I am not ready to be a mommy to two boys just yet.  Oh, and I am excited that one of my co-workers just had her baby.  Her baby girl was born on July 3rd and she is a beautiful little girl with tons of hair.  I am so happy for her.  She came the day before she was due.
