I know I am late again! I fell asleep real early last night and the night before I feel asleep before I was finished with this. So sorry.. I will try to get the next one up faster.
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly. Random Thoughts: I have to say.. guys have no filter!! I stopped at the dollar store the other day on my way to pick up Jayden after work. I was looking at craft stuff (things for Jayden to do when baby comes and will keep him busy). So these two guys were walking toward me and I hear one.. not even trying to be discreet or quiet say, "Damn and she's pregnant.. that is F**king sexy!!" I'm sure he meant that as a compliment, but REALLY!! Then he walked past me and asked how I was doing. Also, I went to the doctor yesterday and as I made my next appointments I found out I get to see my doctor next week, but for the next 3 weeks I have to see a different doctor. And my doctor is on call the week before baby boy is due and off the whole week I am due. So I am hoping I go into labor the week before so I get my doctor. I picked her because I like her.. I hate that I will possibly not get her. I know work doesn't want me to go into labor early, but I would not mind the week before.. even that Friday would be fine. LOL!
Symptoms/Medical: Dr. checked him yesterday and his head is in the right position. I had to do the Group B test. The nurse said I could have the doctor check dilation if I wanted, but I figure why. I was not dilated with Jayden at all until my water broke.. and I have known people to be dilated for weeks or even months before giving birth. It doesn't really tell if he is coming or not. So I didn't have him check. But when he checked baby boy's head position it made him mad. His heart rate shot up quick, but then he calmed down. He kept running from the heart rate monitor as usual. I have had really bad swelling in my feet and legs this week. I think mostly because of walking more at work, its pre-service training week and I have had to walk across a large resort hotel to get from one room to the other. Plus I think with his head in that down spot I think he is putting pressure on me and causing swelling. My left foot is worse then my right and it will actually hurt to walk on in the evenings after swelling all day. The photo above is from Wednesday night.. it has progressively gotten worse each night. I wake with normal size feet and soon they grow to Flintstones feet.
Weight Gain: 2 lbs up... 41lbs over all.
Cravings: None.. just been really thirsty. But that is probably due to the extreme heat lately.
Food Aversions: None as usual.
What made me cry this week: I don't think anything.
Thoughts from Jayden: Jayden continues to talk about his baby brother. The other evening we put together the baby's bassinet and when Jayden woke up in the morning he came to my room and looked in the bassinet as he asked, "Is baby brother in there yet?" He put his Build a bear in the baby's swing and says Cake will keep it safe until baby comes. He even has been calling his build a bear.. baby cake! (Yes his name is Cake). At the doctor's office Jayden wanted to play cars with his baby brother so he placed a car on my tummy, then began to talk to the baby. Baby boy would move and make the car roll off. It was pretty cute and Jayden thought it was hilarious. So did all the patients and receptionist in the doctor's office. Jayden told some random lady in line at Michael's today about his baby brother and his name and everything. It was cute. He talks to my belly and kisses it all the time.
Something I am excited about: Well, today was my shower and it was so fun. I realized when it was over that I didn't get any pictures and no one else took pictures either. Opps! But it was nice to see friends and family. I am really excited that a friend (co-worker) has offered to take newborn pictures of baby boy. She has one of those super expensive cameras and wants some practice as she is also pregnant about 5 weeks behind me with a baby boy. We have been finding all kinds of cute props for the boys to wear or use in their pictures. We figure by both of us buying things it won't cost as much. So if you have ideas for poses or props then please share! I'd love to get more ideas.
