Some of you might remember that I reviewed some great educational games for Simply Fun back in January. Jayden still plays with those games now and loves them. Games are a fun way to keep the learning going in a fun way. Simply Fun is one of our great sponsors during the Never Stop Learning Event. I was sent 2 products to review and share with you. I received Digger's Garden Match and Tibbar's Big Block of Shapes.
Digger's Garden Match is a fun game for children work on their matching skills. There is a board, colored bones, and tiles with a mix of shapes and colors on it. So each player (up to 6) pick a dog bone and place them on the game board. You put out the starter tile and each player takes 2 of the game tiles. Each person takes a turn by matching either the shape or the color from their tile piece to the starter tile. Then you count up how many shapes are all together and move your bone that many spaces. And you keep going until someone makes it to the finish line. The tiles build kind of like a dominoes game. Children learn to match and identify different shapes and colors as well as counting and turn taking. Jayden had fun playing this game. He didn't quite get the concept that you want to get as many shapes as possible so you can move your bone more spaces. He would just pick a shape or color he liked. The game is for children ages 4 and up and I think that is about right. The only thing that Jayden kept asking where the doggie was. There is a dog on the box and he really wanted a doggie to feed the bones to when he got to the end of the game.
The second item I was sent was Tibbar's Big Block of Shapes. This is a brightly colored wooden box with shapes cut out. Inside you will find the wooden cut out shapes, 6 of them. The shapes include, square, triangle, circle, star, heart, and trapezoid. Jayden has always loved these fun games and it is something a child could play with on their own. We used it to identify the names of the shapes and you can even identify the colors of each shape since they are all different. The trapezoid was the only one that stumped Jayden in the name and getting it in the hole. He found the correct place, but turning it the right direction was not always the easiest for him. We worked on identifying the short side and the long side. Other then that the only other problem we had with this item is the top lifts off easily, which is in when he wants in to get the shapes, but when he turned the box over to find the other holes it would open and dump everything out. It would be nice if the lid latched a little to keep the shapes from falling out. Simply Fun has a large array of fun educational games for all ages. The games are great for home, school. or homeschooling. They also have opportunity for becoming a consultant. What a fun way to make some money..playing games and sharing with others.
