Growing up I had a Raggedy Ann doll that I loved. I remember I would dress, undress, and dress her again. She had an embroidered heart on her tummy that said I Love You. I loved that doll and after receiving the Raggedy Andy doll I had to go in search of my old doll. I found it. I knew it was here. Aurora World has added a line of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls to their store. When I was asked to review one of their dolls I had to say yes. Since I have boys I decided to get the Raggedy Andy doll.
My old doll.
The Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls are handmade heirloom treasures. They were created in 1918 by Johnny Gruelle for his daughter. Aurora has captured the heartwarming spirit of the originals with 10 nostalgic styles in 4 different sizes (8", 12", 16", & 25"). The dolls have detailed facial features with in soft brown tones and the signature yarn hair. They have the traditional "I Love You" heart on their chest. The larger size dolls have plastic button eyes and the smaller ones have embroidered eyes. Both dolls are dressed in vintage inspired fabrics in their own unique styling. They all come with a hang tag that highlights their origin and legacy. These dolls can be passed down from generation to generation.
Raggedy Andy came in a plastic bag to keep him clean. He has his classic sailor type outfit on and bright red yarn hair. I received the large size (16") doll. So his eyes are buttons, I would have preferred them to be embroidered. His nose and mouth are embroidered. He even has rosie cheeks. When we received him Jayden was interested, but was convinced he was for the baby. He said he needs to be in the babies room for when Evan comes. The doll is for 18 months and up. I will keep him up and available for Evan for when he is old enough. He is very well made with embroidery on his buttons and his name is embroidered on his hat. He would make a great gift for any child.
