All For Baby: The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby's First Year Review & Giveaway

You might remember that a while back I reviewed The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth.  I loved reading that book then and I read it again each week along my pregnancy.  Mommy MD Guides now has added to their list of books.  I was recently sent The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby's First Year.

The Mommy MD Guides to Your Baby's First Year is the second book in the series and it follows the same type of format as the first.  It features move that 900 tips from 70 doctors who are also mothers.  These doctors share their experience as moms, not just as doctors.  So they are sharing what they did and do from their personal experiences both as doctors and moms.  They draw from 100's of years of experience together.  Combined they they have 160 children.

The book includes tips on challenges and celebrations through a child's first year.  Some of the challenging topics include breastfeeding, getting baby to sleep, coping with stress, and much more.  In addition will read about how these moms enjoyed celebrations such as introducing their baby to friends and family, play dates, baby's first including first birthdays.  The book helps to reassure moms through their baby's first year with lots of practical and usable tips that really work.  Your getting advice from moms that have been there and do it while working crazy busy long hours and schedules so they know what its like out there.

I really like how easy this book is to read.  The chapters are broken down by month and under each month there are likely topics that would come up that month.  But the way the book is written you could skip around if something comes up in your life and is not address in the same month.  Each chapter begins with your baby's development, taking care of you, and justification for a celebration.  Then it goes into individual topics per month.  Throughout the book there are Rallie's Tips where Rallie McAllister one of the authors of this book shares a personal experience and tip.  Another thing that is found throughout the book is Mommy MD Guides - Recommended product.  This is where they recommend a great product that they like because they have used it and it worked great for them.  Some of the recommended products include Gentle Naturals Cradle Cap Care, Aquatopia Safety Bath Time Audible Thermometer, Pacifier Rinser, Koala Bibs, and much more.  There are also points of when to call the doctor.  Even after being a mom for the second time I find it hard to always know when is it good to call the doctor and when can it wait.  Every mom needs to remember to take some time for themselves because you know we all give so much to our children and family and there is not enough left for us so there are MomMy Time tips through the book to suggest ways for mom to relax and de-stress.

The book is fun to read with so many great tips without judgement.  The doctors do not all agree on every topic, but share their views and how they handled each situation.  This is a book that I will refer to for the next year I'm sure.  Then I look forward to reading The Mommy's MD Guide to The Toddler Years the next book in the series.  And for all you dad's out there check out the Daddy MD Guides website for great tips and information.
