An important part of childhood and learning is pretend play. The process of pretend play helps children to develop many great skills such as social emotional skills, language skills, and thinking skills. I love watching children play and out out their imagination. One of my favorite things is to sit quietly and watch and/or listen as Jayden acts out many scenarios he has made up. Children don't really need much to pretend and out out their play as they can make things out of any object. But giving them some simple props can enhance the play. Learning Resources has many great props to help build the imagination. Recently I received the New Sprouts Serve It! My Very Own Dish Set to review.
The New Sprouts Serve It! My Very Own Dish Set includes everything you need to set the table for four. The dishes included are four of each plates, bowls, cups, forks, spoons, and knives. The dishes are a chunkier size perfect for little hands to grasp and to hold play food. The dishes are different colors which helps children work on color identification along with helping to encourage social interactions. And something I love about this set is that it is safe to eat with. They meet FDA specifications for food use and they are dishwasher safe. I know that many kids like to use their play dishes to actually eat and drink with.
It was my twin nieces birthday and I thought this was the perfect set for them. So I wrapped them up and gave the set to them. They were very excited when they opened them up and wanted them out of the box. I opened the box and pulled out all the dishes. Right away they wanted to "feed" their babies and even themselves. The dishes are durable and perfect for my rough and tough nieces. After they used them for a few days my brother in law said they love them and use them everyday.
This set would be a great gift for any boy or girl. Learning Resources has such a great selection of great educational and pretend products.
