Keep Children's Eyes Safe and Stylish With Real Kids Shades Review & Giveaway

I was provide the below mentioned products in exchange for my honest review.

Real Kids Shades provides quality 100% UV protection sunglasses for children. Our goal is to have every kid wear sunglasses

Jayden has very sensitive eyes.  For as long as I can remember he has had a hard time with the sunlight and his eyes.  When he walks outside on a sunny day, living in Arizona means sunny everyday, he squints and covers his eyes.  His eyes will begin to water almost immediately.  Even as a baby he used to turn his head and bury his face in my neck or chest.  Because of this I have always gotten him sunglasses to wear.  But really none have been very comfortable.  He either complains that they hurt his ears or around his nose.  Sometimes he will even have little red marks on either side of his nose and/or head.  I really want to find him a solution to his eye problem.  And while I am at it I want to be sure and help Evan too.  Evan does not seem to be as sensitive, but I still worry about his eyes.  When I was given the opportunity to review Real Kids Shades I was hoping these would be better for the boys.

Jayden received a blue pair of the Flex glasses.  John actually opened the package of glasses for Jayden.  He immediately commented about how light and flexible they were.  He was impressed with the material.  Jayden put them on and said, "Wow mommy these are great!  They feel really comfortable on my face."  Yes, one if his favorite words is comfortable so he did say that word.  Normally when he wears sunglasses he will complain that they hurt his face or he will just take them off when he can.  He will prefer to cover his eyes when they are uncomfortable.  But with the Real Kids Shades he leaves them on the whole time and never complains.  When we were at the beach last month he was so happy to have his Real Kids Shades.  The frame is really flexible so they won't break in two when pulled on.  They came with a neoprene strap that can be added or removed.  So far Jayden has not used the strap.  The lenses are 100% UVA/UVB protected and made from polycarbonate.  Jayden no longer needs to squint or look away with his glasses on when in the sun light.

Evan received a pair of the My First Shades.  Evan is not as accustomed to wearing sunglasses so he will take them off.  He tends to leave them on better if I put them on when he is already outside. The infant my first shades are also 100% UVA/UVB protected and made from polycarbonate frames and lenses.  There are no metal hinges for babies to get pinched.  They have a neoprene band that is easily adjustable with velcro.  The frames themselves wrap around the face to minimize the peripheral light exposure.  Evan pulled these off a few times and tried to throw or drop them, but they still look brand new since they are shatterproof and impact resistant.  I would just replace them back on his face so that he would become used to them.  He would leave them on longer and longer each time I put them on.  I think they look adorable on his little face and it makes me happy knowing that his eyes are well protected.

Real Kids Shades is currently working with Prevent Blindness America to help educate the public on the importance of protecting children's eyes.  Most parents are really good at remembering to cover their child with sunscreen to protect their skin, but not as good at caring for their eyes.  Most kids sunglasses are just toys and provide no real protection for children's eyes.  Real Kids Shades are sunglasses that are meant to protect children's eyes.  Sunlight can permanently damage a child's eyes and the damage is permanent and cumulative.  Eye lenses can not repair themselves like skin cells can.  So any damage will just continue to get worse.  It is important to teach your child to protect their eyes from the beginning to prevent future damage that can lead to possible blindness.

  3. I love that their sunglasses have 100% UVA/UVB blocking! It is so important and a lot of the cheap sunglasses don't have that! I don't even know which I would choose, they are all so cool!
