Our Leap Frog #LeapReader "Ready, Set, Read & Write" Party

When I received notice that I was chosen to host a Leap Frog Leapreader "Ready, Set, Read & Write" Party I literally jumped up and down.  I was very excited to receive the kit and share with my family and friends.  With Jayden starting Kindergarten as well as my nephew I think this is the perfect time to share this product.  Leap Frog always has so many great educational and fun products.  I immediately started making plans for our party.  I wanted it to be fun and educational.  Jayden was excited to be hosting to fun party with his friends and cousins.  We had the party last weekend on Saturday.

LeapReader™/Tag™ Get Ready for KindergartenLeapReader™ Book: Learn to Write Letters with Mr Pencil

The LeapFrog LeapReader Reading and Writing System helps children to read, write, and learn through listening.  It sounds out words, reads sentences, plays games and puzzles, writes letters and numbers on special paper, reads books, sings songs, and plays trivia challenges to build compreshension skills and vocabulary.  There is a library of 105+ books, workbuooks, audio books, and more that can be used with the LeapReader.  It comes in green or pink.  Each LeapReader comes with a sampler book and four apps.  It holds audio for up to 40 books or 175 songs.  For the party we received 2 LeapReaders complete witih USBs and Sampler books, Getting Ready for Kindergarten book, Monsters University book, Learn to Write Letters wtih Mr. Pencil Workbook, Write It! Talking Words Factory Workbook, Talking Words Factory flash cards, and special letter writing pages.

Everyone showed up and we had the Leap Frog Leapreaders, books, and writing pads out for everyone to see.  As soon as everyone got there we got started.  I sat with all the kids in a circle and pulled out the book, "Getting Ready For Kindergarten".  I wanted to show all the kids how the pen worked.  I started by having the pen read the first page of the book.  Jayden had already tested it out so he showed everyone how to get it started.  Then we played a pattern game on one page and everyone got a turn using the pen on the book.  The kids were excited to have a turn and helped each other if they got the answer wrong.  The parents were happy to see the kids so excited.

After each child had a couple of turns we decided to make letter shaped pizza.  I had already started the crust by molding it into the first letter of each child's name.  The kids had a great time making their own letter pizza.  I will share how I did it in another post.

While the pizza's were baking the kids got a chance to use the "write" part of the Leapreader.  Everyone picked a page to practice writing.  The children were excited that they could write on the paper and practice their letters and when they used it on a book it did not write.  I love things that can be used for multiple purposes.  The parents were amazed how it worked.  After everyone got a chance to write some letters they tried using the flash cards.

We all took a break and had some yummy pizza.  The kids loved eating their letters.

Next I pulled out the Monsters University book.  We all sat together on the floor again and everyone got to wear a pair of 3D glasses.  We read the book with the LeapReader.  Everyone wanted to take turns touching the page and starting the reading.

To conclude our party Jayden passed out some yummy chocolate chip cookies.  Everyone enjoyed a nice treat and had a great time.  Everyone also received special certificates, writing pages and a pencil to practice writing at home.  Jayden was so happy to have everyone over and the other children had fun playing with something new.  The parents were happy to see the LeapReader up close and to be able to try it out before purchasing it.  The LeapReader would be a great gift for the holidays.
