A Toddler Must Have: Joovy Dood Sippy Cup

I was provide the below mentioned products in exchange for my honest review.

Boob Nipple
I have shared my love of all things Joovy previously.  Recently I was sent a couple of the new Joovy Dood Sippy Cups.  I had not really introduced a sippy cup to Evan until the last couple of months.  But I was disappointed that although he loved drinking water from his sippy cups he would take in a mouth full and then spit half it out.  I have been afraid to put milk in his cups because I don't want the same mouth full of milk all over.  I was excited to try the Joovy Dood and hoped that we would not have the same problem.

I received the 7oz Dood Sippy cup and the 7oz Dood sippy cup with insulator.  They both come with a soft spout to help protect gums and pallet during teething.  It also makes for an easier transition from bottle to sippy cup.  They include the same one piece CleanFlow vent system as the Joovy Boob Bottle system.  This vent allows for constant ventilation regardless of how the cup is being held.  It also includes a non spill valve to keep it from leaking.  They have flexible handles to make it easier for babies/toddlers to hold.  Each come with a cap to keep the spout clean.  They are made from clear and colorful polypropylene and are bpa, pvc and lead free.  The insulator cup comes with a slip on insulator to keep drinks at desired tempertures.  You can even freeze a liquid in the cup and then extend the defrost time.  The insulator is easy to remove and the cup can be used with or without it.

When I first received the cups the first thing I noticed was the beautiful turquoise color.  These cups come in turquoise or purple.  After washing them up I put some water in the Dood sippy cup and let Evan try it.  He was not too sure at first since it didn't look the same as his other cup.  I helped him to try it out at first.  He drank his water down right away.  He quickly figured out how to use it on his own and loved drinking from it.  He would take a drink and smile at me.  And the best thing is there was no water being spit out.  He was drinking it all down.  I was immediately happy that this cup was working better for him.

When I tried the insulator cup I had a bit of a hard time getting a good tight seal on the lid.  I was afraid to give it to Evan without a tight seal.  I even tried calling customer service.  Unfortunately I called after hours, but I figured out my problem on my own and was in the end glad they didn't answer.  It was completely user error!  The cup itself does not attach to the insulator so when you put the lid on and the full insulator is on it seems as if it is just spinning and spinning, but really its the insulator spinning around the cup.  So I figured out I had to make sure the top is on good and tight before adding the bottom piece of the insulator cup.  I have to admit it still freaks me out a little and I still have a little worry in the back of my mind that it is not on good and tight.

I really like the design of the Dood Sippy cup.  The handles are perfect for Evan to hold on and work on his self help skills.  I love the cap to keep it sanitary.  The insulator is great if we plan on being out and about for hours I don't have to worry about the liquid inside going bad.  When the spill valve is in good and tight there are little to no leaks.  Unfortunately Evan has figured out how to shake it really hard and knock the valve out a few times and then he shakes the cup all over to spray the room with water.  But like I said if you get the valve in good this should not happen.  The Joovy Dood Sippy cup lives up to the wonderful Joovy name along with all the other great products they have.

  4. I would be ALL OVER this if my kids were of sippy cup age. I LOVE these! The colors are so much fun, and I love that the insulator is available, but totally optional.

  8. This looks like a great sippy cup. My son is 3 and still uses one so we can avoid spills. Mostly we have the kind with a hard top.

  12. They look like great cups! We're using straw cups right now, but I'll be sure to recommend them to friends who use sippys.

  15. I'm just transitioning my little one to a sippy cup (he's been breastfed so far, and it was recommended that we just skip over bottles entirely now that he's approaching 7 months) - we'll definitely have to try this one out!
