Buy at Local Toy Stores Like Brilliant Sky Toys & Books

I was provided the below mentioned products in order to provide a review.

I was recently introduced to Brilliant Sky Toys & Books.  They are a franchise chain of local specialty toy stores.  There are 15 of these awesome stores, unfortunately not one near me.  Brilliant Sky Toys & Books believes that by providing the highest quality products and a highly engaging and interactive environment then children will have the tools to grow physically, emotionally, and cognitively.  Their toy stores feature rich colors, low sightlines, custom fixtures, and so much more.  Just looking at the pictures I want to go there myself to play.

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books recently awarded 12 toys to the 2013 Brilliance List.  We received three of these Brilliance Award winners, Little Chubbies by International Playthings, Skwish Classic by Manhattan Toys, and Switch and Spin Magnetic Gear Board by Melissa & Doug.

The Little Chubbies by International Playthings are sturdy vehicles that stand up to the toughest treatment by toddlers and preschoolers.  They are practically indestructible and dishwasher safe.  They are a perfect size for small hands.  They have soft textures, rubber wheels, real working parts, furniture safe, and fun bold colors.  The set includes cars, boats, helicopters, planes, and more.  When I got these out for Evan he immediately started taking the vehicles out of the box.  He wanted the ones with wheels and began rolling them on the tile.  He pushed them and rolled them around.  I showed him the helicopter and how its propeller turned.  He smiled and laughed.  I flew the airplane around and he loved that too.  Evan had a great time playing with they vehicles.  And I think he really liked the cute little box they came in.  He liked stacking them back inside and putting the lid on top.

I was very curious about the Skwish Classic by Manhattan Toys.  I admit I wasn't really sure what it was, but wanted to find out.  It is simply an interesting product that captures the attention of babies and toddlers.  It brings a sense of wonder for toddlers.  It is made with wood, rubber, and non-toxic paint.  When squished it will regain its shape and bounce back.  It even makes a fun sound as the wooden pieces slide.  When I gave this to Evan he began to shake it.  The sound caught his attention.  He would squeeze and squish it.  He had fun playing with this for some time.

The last item I received was the Switch and Spin Magnetic Gear Board.  Jayden declared this was for him.  This comes with the board, 8 magnetic pegs, 8 colorful gears, 5 double sided and color coded templates, and the magnetic board.  The templates can be easily placed on the board and then add the pegs and gears to complete the picture.  The gears can be turned to make a chain reaction.  When not in use the templates slide easily in the pocket on the back of the board.  The board is also dry erase, making it fun to draw on.  Jayden had fun choosing which template to use and picture to create.  He then created his own group of gears.  After a bit he realized the board is dry erase and had to find a marker to use.  He was drawing pictures.  You can easily draw your own pictures and make it stand out while adding the magnetic pegs and gears.  This is a great versatile product.  It is very well made and seems like it will last a long time.  I like that the pegs and gears on not too small so if Evan gets them.

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books has a large selection of quality toys.  They offer their customers concierge style service.  They offer free gift wrap too.  If you are lucky enough to live near one of these toy stores then you have to check it out and let me know what you think.  If your like me and do not live near one of these great stores, then check out other local toy stores.  Local toy stores often have something magical about them that the big stores do not have.

  3. That looks like such an amazing toy store! We don't have anything like that around here so I have to order everyone online without getting to check it out in person first. That gears board looks super neat!
