Evan is wanting to feed himself more and more lately. He is at the stage that he wants to do it himself. I love that he is becoming so independent, but the mess is crazy. I feel like he is much messier then Jayden was. I think maybe some of it is that Jayden was happy to let us feed him longer and Evan is trying to do it himself earlier. So to deal with the mess I usually just strip him down and let him go at it. Which is fine most the time, but there are times we need to go somewhere after eating and I don't want to strip him down and also it is starting to get colder and I don't want him getting cold. So when I heard about the Toppy Toddler No Mess Baby/Toddler Bib I was definitely intrigued. I was interested to see if it worked well for him.
The No Mess Baby/Toddler Bib was developed by a dad that found himself cleaning the table, floor, and his son's clothing every time he ate. After trying many different bibs he found that nothing worked the way he wanted. He decided that what a parent wants and needs is a bib to cover the child's neck and chest area from drips, a pocket to catch dropped food, a place mat to protect the table and highchair, and a way to also use a suction bowl so baby can not throw it. He discovered that using one of his old t-shirts was working for him and wanted to make it better for all parents. So he developed the No Mess Baby Bib. This bib is waterproof and easy to clean. It is a 3 in 1 system that keeps the child's clothes, table and floor clean. The bib attaches to the place mat easily with velcro and forms a pocket to catch dropped food. The place mat has a hole positioned in the middle to accommodate a suction cup bowl.
At first Evan was not to sure of the bib. Since I don't often put a bib on him he was confused. But soon he realized that when he dropped something he could pick it up again in the bib. I think some of the time he liked that, but sometimes he wanted to drop food on purpose. Yup, I have a little stinker. The bib was great for keeping him clean as well as the place mat. The suction bowl didn't want to stick very good to my table. I think it is because my table is wood. When I used it on the tray of my Joovy Spoon it worked great and Evan actually got upset he could not pull it off and throw it. I do like that the bib is large and covers him well. This bib can also grow with him. He has many bibs that are now too small and useless. I also like that the bib can be used alone or with the place mat.
Toppy Toddler you can choose from many different prints. I like the large size of the bib to cover everything. Evan is less messy when he wears these bibs. I like that the place mat keeps the table from being covered and smothered with food too. I wish the suction bowls would stick better to my table, but I'm sure its the wood. The bowls are perfect size for Evan.
