2013 Holiday Gift Guide: Ani-Mates Bible Sharing Bear Plus Giveaway

I am not a super religious person.  I have religious beliefs, but I admit I do not attend church regularly.  I would like to find a church I enjoy attending, but for now I don't.  When I was a kid growing up we went to church every Sunday.  I loved my church.  I remember even going sometimes when my mom did not.  It was not far from our house so I could walk or my grandmother would take me.  I loved learning all the bible stories.  I really want my children to know the stories that I learned growing up.  Jayden is getting to the age of being able to attend Sunday school and not just the child care.  John and I have both discussed wanting to find a church we feel comfortable at and attend.  John also attended church as a child.  We'd love our boys to be exposed to church.  But until we find one we like we will have to be the ones teaching them.  I admit I really didn't know where to start.  When I was recently contacted to do a review of the Ani-Mates I was immediately intrigued.  I said yes right away.

When I received the package I was very impressed by our new friend.  And I wasn't the only one.  When Evan saw the box he reached in and pulled the bear out.  He literally tucked the bear under his arm and began walking around the house with him.  He did not want to let go, not even for me to add the batteries.  You might be wondering what are Ani-Mates.  Well, Ani-Mates are stuffed animals that come to life to tell bible stories.  There is a bear and a puppy available.  Each are preloaded with 35 bible stories and songs, that is over an hour.  All you have to do is press the foot and the story begins.  You can skip to the next story if you want and there is even a pause button.  As the story is being told the bear (or puppy) moves his mouth as if he is the one telling the story.  You can even hook it up to your smart phone and have a family member or friend call and read your child a bedtime story using the Ani-Mate as your speaker.  There are even apps that you can add to your phone for more visual and audio fun.  You can record a short message that the bear or puppy will say each time it is turned on.  Ani-Mates also have the ability for your child to plug in their own headphones and listen without disturbing others.

Both Jayden and Evan love this bear.  Evan did finally let me put the batteries in so he could tell his stories.  When we first got it Jayden sat down and listed to a few of the stories.  I love that he was so interested in the stories.  He would ask me questions.  In one of the stories it said something that Jesus said and then another voice came on.  Jayden immediately asked me, "Is that Jesus?"  then he heard farm animals in the background so he asked, "Is Jesus on a farm?"  We talked about the stories and what he was thinking.  I love that this bear has given me more opportunity to talk about religion and beliefs with him.  Evan loves holding the bear and pressing the button for him to talk.  I'm sure he doesn't really know what is being said, but in time he will know.  He loves to try and stick his finger in the bears mouth as he talks.  Evan took our bear to Nana's house the other day while I was at work.   When I picked him up she said he played with it all day and barely put it down.  The batteries were even dying, because he used it so much.  This bear has become a welcome addition to our home.

I can't really say how much we are enjoying this bear and all he brings for our boys.  I love it.  My mother in law wants to get one for my nieces and nephew now.  The only thing I have a problem with is there cord that sticks out under his arm.  The cord is to plug in  your phone, but when it is not in use it just hangs there.  Evan likes to put it in his mouth and I don't like that.  I am thinking about sewing a little loop under his arm so we can tuck it in when we don't need it.

  2. This is a great "toy!" I really love that you can prerecord a message for the recipient. What a sweet, personalized gesture. If I won this, I would keep it for my children. We homeschool and our curriculum is faith based, this would be an amazing, fun addition to our day for my pre-schooler!
