2013 Holiday Gift Guide: Learning Resources Riddle Moo This Plus Giveaway

Learning Resources is a store I love all year round.  Educational toys are great anytime, but the holidays is an especially great time to shop their store.  They have so many products to help your little one keep the learning going and have fun while doing it.  For the holiday gift guide this year I was sent the Riddle Moo This game.

Riddle Moo This is a game for children ages 5 years old and up.  Up to 4 players can play this game.  The concept is simple and fun.  There are 4 different buzzers that make a different farm animal sound.  There are 150 double sided cards with 3 clues on each card.  One player reads the clues and the other players buzz in when they know the answers.  This game encourages listening, vocabulary, and possibly reading skills.  There is a second level of play for a more advanced learning with the Barn Teaser cards.  Some of the cards have the words Barn Teaser on them.  If the player is able to change one clue and make a riddle with a new answer then they earn another card.

When we first tried this game of course we had to play with the buzzers a little.  It was fun trying to guess which color was which animal.  After the first one we tried moo'd like a cow Jayden thought for sure that the next was a sheep.  It turned out to be a dog and the other two were a horse and a rooster.  Jayden was surprised none of them were sheep.  Jayden and Evan both loved pressing the button to hear the sounds of the animals.  After we had some time playing with the buzzers I started to ask Jayden the questions.  I explained the simple rules and we got started.  I was a little surprised by how many he was able to answer correctly and quickly.  He was only stuck on a couple.  We did not try the Barn Teaser yet.  I really like that there are 300 clue cards making less likely for repetition.   After I asked the questions a few times Jayden wanted to be the one to ask me the questions.  Jayden is not yet reading at this level yet so he did very well making up his clues and having an answer that made sense.  One clue he gave me is... "You use it to get a ball out of a tree.  It reaches high. What is it?"  I wasn't sure, but his answer was "a ladder."  Totally makes sense.  I love his imagination and thinking.  I also really like that the buzzers can be used for any game.  We could use them individually or together.  They each require 2 AA batteries.

Learning Resources has many great gift ideas and even some great stocking stuffers.  Keep the learning going at home, on the go, and during holidays with Learning Resources.
