I love baking with my boys. It is something I always did with my mom and I like doing it with my boys. The part I hate most about it is the mess afterwards. Usually the mess is worth the fun we have and the treats when we are done, but still not fun to have a mess to clean. I was recently invited to check out a fun new place called The Cookie DoughJo. It is located in Peoria, Arizona.
Jayden and I attended this fun event with a few other great bloggers and their children. When we first arrived Jayden found a seat at the big table. The kids were invited to try some of the sprinkle cookies they had prepared as we waited for everyone to arrive. Of course Jayden had to try them. When we were ready to start the kids all put on their aprons and washed their hands. Everyone was given a bowl with butter and a baking spatula along with a little recipe card to follow. The kids all jumped right into smashing their butter. As the butter was smashed the wonderful ladies at the Cookie DoughJo had the children identify the items on the recipe card that came next, then they added the ingredients to the bowls as the children continued to mix. The kids were all having fun and seemed excited to get some cookies going. Jayden loves mixing when we bake at home, so he was happy to join in. Although he did get a little tired and needed some help. Its hard work mixing ingredients. As we got down to the last ingredient the children were given cookie scoops and a baking sheet. They scooped out their cookie dough onto their own cookie sheets, making a perfect dozen cookies. They were then given a cup full of M & Ms to place on their cookies any way they wanted. Jayden asked me to help, so we took turns decorating the cookies. When we were finished they wrote Jayden's name on the cookie liner and took the sheet away.
As the cookie were baking in the oven the kids were all given fun cookie boxes to decorate. They had markers, stamps, and stickers to use all. All the kids were so creative in creating a nice box to put their cookies in. We were also all treated to a yummy cookie cake and some milk. Of course Jayden can never turn down a good glass of chocolate milk. Jayden took his time making sure his cookie box was perfect. When he was done so were his cookies. The girls took his box and filled it with the delicious cookies he just made. He was very excited to get home and show Evan and daddy what he just made. The cookies were so good! They turned out perfect.
The Cookie DoughJo is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy some time with your child or children. And the best part is you get to take home some treats without having to do all the clean up. The Cookie DoughJo has cooking classes, birthday parties, class field trips, and walk-in activities. There are many different cookies flavors you can choose from and it seems they are adding more. When we left we were given a gift. It was chocolate chip cookie ingredients in a jar, instructions to make them, and baking spatula, and my favorite a cookie scoop.
