Glass Dharma Straws Review & Giveaway

I was provided the below mentioned products in order to provide a review.

We like to use drinking straws at home and away.  Not sure why, it just seems easier.  But I hate going through a bunch of plastic straws that just get thrown away afterwards.  Recently I was contacted by GlassDharma about trying their glass straws.  I had heard of glass straws before, but never tried them.  So of course I said yes I'd be interested in trying them.

Glass Dharma is the the leading manufacturer of glass straws.  They ship their straws world wide and are igniting the latest eco-trend to choose reusable drink-ware.  They are made in Fort Bragg, California.  Their straws provide an alternative to plastic straws and eliminates the need for them.  Glass Dharma stands behind their product and promises that if it breaks they will replace it.  They are made from borosilicate glass which is the safest and strongest glass commercially available.  They are even dishwasher and microwave safe.

Some of the advantages of using glass straws:

  - Great for use in hot and cold drinks
  - kid friendly and safe (kids love using a straw)
  - made for speciality drinks such as bubble teas, iced drinks, shakes, smoothies, and juices
  - dress up cocktails
  - lowers damage to teeth and staining when used with wine, coffee, teas, and acidic drinks
  - easy to clean
  - replace toxic plastic straws
  - reduces straw trash

I received a variety of Glass Dharma straws to try.  After opening the package I immediately noticed the top quality.  The straws look beautiful and are thick.  I love ice tea and drink it often.  The ice tea straw is great and I love using it when I am drinking my tea.  I received the ice tea straw with a bend in it.  Makes sipping my drink easier.  The ice tea straw with dots is really pretty.  The dots make it decorative and fun while sipping your favorite drink on a hot summer day.  Often in the mornings I will make a smoothie drink to have on my drive to work.  The smoothie straw is great.  It is wider and makes drinking a thick smoothie easier.  Often I have small chunks of strawberries that can't go up a regular plastic straw.  The brush I received helps to keep the straws clean inside and out.  The last straw I received is a shorty straw that is perfect for Jayden.  He loves to use it while drinking his chocolate milk and his juice.  So far I have been more cautious with Evan using the straws, mostly because he can be a bit destructive and likely to throw the straws.  I am really liking these straws.  Just before receiving the straws I had a cup with a lid and straw that I used often at work.  When I brought it home for the summer the straw broke.  Unfortunately the Glass Dharma straws do not fit in the lid hole.  They are just a little too thick.  I will be keeping my eyes open for a different cup with a lid that has a larger straw hole so I can use my Glass Dharma straws with it at work.  I like the lids at my desk so I don't spill on my computer or students papers.

Glass Dharma glass straws are available in three collections: Simple Elegance, Beautiful Bend, and Decorative Dots with color accented glass dots.  They come in a variety of lengths and widths.  They can be purchased individually or in sets.  There is an accessory line that is sold separately and includes cleaning brushes and hemp sleeves to taking straws wherever you go.

Win it:  One (1) Arizona Mama reader will win a $25 Gift Certificate to Glass Dharma to purchase their own glass straws.

  6. It's cool you can use these as fundraiser items, I am a former Special Ed Teacher and I will let the school know about these. they always do bake sales with milk so the straws would be fun to sell with the cups!

  10. This is really cool! I love the idea of a reusable straw. I recycle my plastic straws, but this is even better. Now I'm not promoting the production of another thing. I just use this straw over and over. It looks cool, too.

  29. I like that they're reusable. However, I would be iffy about using them with the kiddos (and myself) because they're made of glass.
