Little Tikes 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition Review

Little Tikes is a brand that I think highly of.  We have quite a few Little Tikes products and they are all great.  Little Tikes really does their best to make products children enjoy.  Recently I decided I wanted to get Evan a tricycle.  But I really wanted one that would grow with him.  He is not quite at the age to petal on his own, but will in a few months of less.  When Little Tikes offered the 4-in-1 Trike Sports Edition I was excited.  It was exactly what I wanted for him.

When we received the trike Evan saw the box and was trying to open it himself.  He was so funny cause he even tried to bite the box.  I think he was excited to find what was inside.  I pulled out the trike and started to put it together.  My mom stopped by and began to help me.  Not much later a friend brought his baby by to visit and before I knew it he was putting it all together for us.  It didn't take much time.  He went straight to the stage for 18 months plus.  Evan is big enough to go with out the waist bar.  The trike can be used as early as 9 months with the parents pushing with the push bar and having control of the trike.  Baby would sit in the seat with a 5 point harness to keep baby seated safely along with  safety bar.  By 12 months or so baby would be able to reach to petal, but parents can still have full control with the push bar.  Evan is at the stage of allowing the child to steer and removing the safety bar.  Even with the child being able to steer and possibly use the petals the parent still has complete control with the push bar.  The last step is to remove the push bar and allow the toddler to petal and steer themselves.

The handle is ergonomically designed, is adjustable, and easily detached.  It has a parking break too.  The seat is padded for comfort.  There are 4 positions that the seat can be adjusted to.  The handle has a zippered handy pack that is attached.  It is really nice and holds everything you might need while out.  There is a little storage bucket in the back for additional storage.  The push bar has a beverage holder also.  And the best part of all is the shade canopy that is easily adjusted to any angle and is remove able.  Here in Arizona it is always sunny and with Evan's super fair skin I like that I can shade him for less sun exposure.

We have used this trike many times since we received it.  One of our biggest adventures was to walk around the neighborhood to feed the ducks at the local golf course.  Evan was super excited to ride his bike.  The large zippered pack was perfect for holding my keys, phone, and camera.  I was able to put my water bottle in the holder and the boys water bottles int he bucket on the back along with the duck food.  The steering was great.  I was able to move him the direction I wanted while he pretended to drive.  The shade kept him out of the direct sun light.  He used the footrest to keep his feet comfortable.  When we got to the pond where the ducks are the boys were excited to feed the ducks.  Evan was able to easily get off the bike and get back on when we were ready to go.

This duck was very interested in the trike, even more then the food we were giving them.

We took the trike the long way all the way around the golf course and neighborhood back home.  Jayden was really wanting to try out the trike so Evan let him have a short turn too.  The trike holds up to 50 lbs and Jayden is just under that at 47 pounds.  Although it was a little heavier to push I was still able to push and steer him around.  He wanted to petal it himself, but with the handle attached it can not be petaled.  Evan quickly wanted his bike back of course.

There is so much I like about this trike.  I always like products that can be used for longer and the fact that this grows with the child for many years is great.  Jayden is 6 years old so technically this bike can be used for 5+ years depending.  I love that I can steer him so easily with the handle.  The handle is comfortable to hold and push.  There is so much storage with the zipper pouch and the storage bucket on the back.  Going to the park we have room to hold drinks and snacks for sure.  The shade canopy is great for my fair skinned boy.  And to be honest I love the colors.  The color combination look beautiful together, one of my favorites together.  The only thing I wish with this trike is that I got it earlier so we could have enjoyed it at a younger age for Evan.

Little Tikes knows how to make great products for kids and parents.  This trike has great options for both kids and parents.  You can also read my review of the Little Tikes Sort n' Store Primary Toy Chest.

  5. Wow, what a cool trike, it looks like it can do it all. I've been debating with myself whether our little one needs a trike, or if we should put her on the two wheeler with training wheels.
