Starlux Games Wizards & Werewolves and Capture the Flag Redux

Starlux Games Logo

By now summer is well under way and back to school is in the near future. For us school starts in about 3 weeks and I know some schools start later. But we are at a point where the kids are getting really bored. Swimming and video games seems to be the norm around here. It is just so hot to do much during the day. But night time play is an option, but not always easy with limited visibility. Recently I was introduced to a couple of new games from Starlux Games: Wizards & Werewolves and Capture the Flag Redux. Both of these games are great for playing in the dark with their glowing play. Which is the only time you want to be outside in Arizona unless water is involved.

Wizards & Werewolves is a fun and active team games for 4 to 10 players. This would be great for a party game, birthday sleep overs, family get together, and more. This game takes two mythical forces and puts them against each other in a battle of speed, skill, and wits. Wizards are out to capture glowing magical crystals while werewolves are guarding the crystals and hunting wizards. There are three levels of game play ranging from simple to more complex.

The first level is One Crystal Saves Them All. Wizards are out to find the Moon Crystal to end the curse and win the game. But the Alpha Werewolf is hiding in the darkness and hunting the Wizards. If bitten (tagged) they must howl and join the pack as a Werewolf.

The second level is Destroy the Alpha Werewolf. With a large pack of Werewolves roaming around in the darkness the Wizards need to not only find the crystals, but they need to destroy (tag) the Alpha Werewolf. The glowing crystal makes you the biggest target for the werewolves to attack so be careful.

The third level is called Circle of Wizards. Each Wizard gets a special power. They must work together to out wit the werewolves. This level requires strategy and teamwork to end the curse.

Each game set includes the following:
  • 5 Wizard Armlets
  • 1 Moon Crystal
  • 4 Field Markers
  • 2 Star Crystals
  • 1 Complete Rulebook (with 3 levels of gameplay)
  • 7 Character Cards (for Game Level C, "Circle of Wizards")
*All batteries are included and replaceable (type CR1220)

The game comes with everything you need to light up the night and get started with up to 10 players. You can be a Wizard or a Werewolf, either way there are roles to take on and strategies to work on. I like the way the game can vary depending on how you want to play. Also I like that it comes with everything including the batteries. My kids love the glow in the dark play and that they can run around and chase each other in the dark.

Capture the Flag Redux is the classic outdoor game with glowing fun. It is another team game and the box has enough for 4-10 players, although you can buy more team bracelets for even more players. There are 12 different ways to play the game. You can play classic steal the other teams glowing orbs, break teammates out of jail, sneak into enemy territory, and protect you base.

Each player wears a glowing bracelet in either blue or green depending on your team. The orbs glow and the game even comes with jail markers and territory lights. In addition to the classic game of capture the flag you can add in variations by giving players special abilities or have them move in fun creative ways as they find their team orb. This is a fun and exciting way to get kids and adults moving together.

Each game set includes the following:

  • 2 Glowing Orbs (flags)
  • 8 Jail Markers
  • 5 Territory Lights
  • 10 Team Bracelets (5 of each team)

These are two great games for a group. Kids and adults can have fun with these. They would be great for birthday parties, family reunion, or any get together with a group of friends.
